The time for a new fishing kayak had arrived and with so much choice on the market it was initially quite a tricky decision for me. Fortunately, the guys at CSG had my back and after popping in to my local Plymouth store, I soon had a very good idea of the kayak I wanted.
Our first Viking container arrived last month from New Zealand, with models ‘Profish 400’, ‘Profish Reload’ & ‘Profish GT’ in the line-up.
They are proving to very popular, with excellent design features and a very solid build quality.
Being designed and manufactured in New Zealand means that the hull shapes and design features are especially well suited to UK waters…
The Fox 14 is the very latest canoe design to come out of Nova Craft and at first look it certainly gives the impression of a solo canoe that should deliver a great deal of fun and satisfaction on the water.
The Feelfree Lure 13.5 is a longer, extremely stable and more efficient version of the renowned Lure 11.5. This big brother to the Lure 11.5 combines an extensive list of angling features with a kayak that is capable of handling bigger water. This gives you the ability to carry everything you need to target those big fish on a stable but efficient platform.
The weather this January has been reasonably settled. Another calm weather window presented itself. It was bitterly cold though. The plan was to go for a paddle and fish on a local river estuary – the River Helford. The target would be flounders, a species of flatfish which can be found over tidal mud flats particularly in the cold winter months. We arrived at the launch spot just after sunrise to see the entire river valley full of freezing mist…. luckily we had our dry suits and thermals!
Viking Kayaks are manufactured in New Zealand from the highest quality materials and components. Being designed in New Zealand means the rough water hull designs are very well suited to UK waters, which has led to Viking Kayaks establishing itself as one of the leading performance fishing kayak brands in the UK.
Even more good news to kick off 2017 with. At long last Gumotex Inflatable Kayaks will be available again in the UK and Ireland!
Gumotex make use of HTP Nitrilon fabrics in the manufacture of their kayaks and canoes, which is a lighter version of the fabrics used in RIBs and Rigid Inflatable Boats. The types of boats that are used by the likes of the RNLI and Divers!
Put simply, this is by far the best material used for recreational paddling inflatables where only the military use a heavier fabric construction!
