February
Set off from Cornwall last Tuesday on a work/kayak-fishing trip .
We were moving a load of kayaks and kit out to our Irish branch in Bantry Bay, West Cork. The idea was to spend a couple days working and get a few trips out on the kayaks...... the weather had other ideas though!
We got off the ferry at Rosslaire at about 0730 on Wednesday. We were greeted by about 4-5 inches of Snow everywhere which was great fun with a transit van and fully loaded trailer. First stop was a lay-by to meet an Irish customer who was collecting his Composite Sea Kayak.

We then traveled on to the Beara peninsula SW Ireland. We were forced to shore fish for the week as there was a strong offshore wind and a large Westerly groundswell making fishing from the kayaks a bit risky. However we had a break in the Weather on Saturday and managed to launch at a sheltered spot called Blue Island which was perfect. There was still a swell running but manageable and the wind had dropped right off.

We fished for about an hour until Bob was into his the first fish of the day, a Pollock......

We landed a further 8 Pollock over the next 2 hours and I had one Ballan at about 3LB.
The Pollock were all reasonable fish, from 2.5lb - 6lb and were caught on Mackerel or Lug baits.
