Swift Canoes Prospector 15

The Swift Prospector 15 is a beautiful general-purpose canoe while also being the lightest tandem boat we can supply. Swift have taken the traditional shape and added their own flare to the design which results in an increased freeboard, however rather than a hard side the Prospector 15 has a notable tumble home right at the top of the canoe, allowing for paddle strokes to be utilised closer to the hull with less chance of catching you hand on the gunwale. This tumble home rolls into a rounded chine offering an increased stability, particularly when loaded while also allowing smaller waves and chop to roll under the canoe with less rocking.

For couples wanting to get out on the water with this lightweight canoe is a fantastic option for being relatively compact, ensuring less wind effect and more controllable in exposed environments. Being only 15ft in length this is an extremely manageable solo length (particularly in the models with versa seats or a 3^rd combi seat), but can also handle single days out and overnight tripping for two.

The Swift Prospector 15 is available in the UK specification of Kevlar Fusion laminate. With an exceptional strength to weight ratio of any laminate, this Kevlar Fusion is constructed of a top layer of urethane resin with a thin exterior gel coat for increased durability and a stunning high gloss finish. The hull itself is made up of a layer of polyester, S-Glass and a Kevlar cloth sandwiching around a highly durable foam cored ribbing system. The laminate is fused together with a high-pressure infusion process, and the result is Kevlar Fusion has a high impact and abrasion resistance. Having a lightweight canoe without having lightweight trim would be a futile exercise, however due to the infusion process, Swift are able to utilise a unique bonding whereby the canoe hull and gunwale are fused together making it maintenance free and minimises the requirement for any “heavy” hardware to secure them together. The under hull has a light coloured Champagne to minimise and hide light stratches which are unfortunately inevitable on all canoes.

The interior is finished in Cherrywood, with the seats contoured for maximum comfort regardless of kneeling or sitting, the yoke is also formed of a single piece of Cherry, complimenting a finish of such high-quality with the lovely colour.

Prospector 15 (with versa Bow Seat): Same set up in seating as the standard Prospector 15, with two fixed seats, except the front seat has been reshaped and redesigned to allow solo paddling by facing into the middle of the canoe, the inner side of the seat has gained more webbing and more curvature for increased comfort for those solo paddlers. Prospector 15 Combi – 3 Seats: The Combi version of the Prospector 15 replaces the fixed cherrywood yoke with a centre seat positioned on the balance point, ideal for families looking to get out on the water with three people in a single canoe. However, it also gives increased versatility for solo paddling with an ideally placed position for optimum trim. Supplied in the UK with a removable carry Cherry Yoke, the Prospector 15 Combi can be easily portaged and lends itself as a jack of all trade’s boats, perfect for solo or tandem tripping.
