Hobie Revolution 16 – Initial Thoughts & The First Session

Grey Mullet on float fished bread flakeThe time for a new fishing kayak had arrived and with so much choice on the market it was initially quite a tricky decision for me. Fortunately, the guys at CSG had my back and after popping in to my local Plymouth store, I soon had a very good idea of the kayak I wanted.

Chris' first gilthead bream of 2017 on the Profish 400Our first Viking container arrived last month from New Zealand, with models ‘Profish 400’, ‘Profish Reload’ & ‘Profish GT’ in the line-up.

Exploring the River Helford by Kayak

Searching for Flounder on the River Helford

The weather this January has been reasonably settled. Another calm weather window presented itself. It was bitterly cold though. Big Bass!!

Another Shot of Liams Bass

September proved to be a difficult month to get out on the water. Whenever we had a day off from working in the shop, the wind seemed to be blowing too much to get out for a session. In Cornwall we are very much at the mercy of the prevailing Atlantic weather systems and can often go weeks and weeks without being able to get out on the water….frustrating! A break in the persistent winds finally came along although there was still a good amount of swell hitting the coast.

Offshore Conger Fun in West Cornwall

A PB Conger Eel for Liam - Cornwall Canoes

It would be our first proper session for July and it turned out to be a memorable one at that! Liam had recently taken delivery of his new Rytmo Angler (A fresh new fishing kayak from none other than RTM!) and Andrew had recently fitted his new Raymarine Dragonfly 6 to the trusty Feelfree Moken 12.5.

A quick look at the weather forecast presented us with the perfect conditions to finally hit an offshore wreck in the hope of some big Conger eel…
