Description

A calm water cruising canoe for the entire family to enjoy, a bigger version of the Enigma Canoes Nimrod 15, the Turing 16 has sufficient length that it opens the option of adding an extra seat and has more than enough space to fit the family in. The carrying capacity in excess of 470kg offers this family canoe to also be a loyal companion for holidays and adventures, particularly if looking to explore over multiple days.

Best suited for in-land touring across calm waterways, the Turing 16 is perfect for use on lakes, lochs, canals, gentle flowing rivers, reservoirs. The Turing can also be used on sheltered tidal waters such as coves, estuaries and tidal lochs. With a long waterline, measuring just over 16ft length, the Turing 16 is a fast canoe and is more than capable of covering a good distance making it perfect for multi-day trips. If you would like a canoe which is better suited for use on low grade white water, or more adverse conditions for a drier ride, it would be recommended to look at the Enigma Canoes Prospector 16 as a more general purpose all-rounder.

With minimal rocker and a distinct v-shaped keel the Turing 16 performs excellently in a straight line and has a good waterline for gliding and maintaining speed. The low rocker is especially useful to utilise the most amount of time on the water, and makes the Turing easier to control in windy conditions, it also reduces the wind resistance when covering great distances.

Manufactured here in the UK of a triple layer plastic, the Turing 16 is made of extremely rugged materials. A small amount of natural buoyancy can be found in all of the Enigma Canoes, the triple layer construction features a foam core centre which provides this, preventing them from sinking. Finished with oiled wood work throughout, the Turing 16 has two carry handles, two wood webbed seats, a carrying yoke and thwart, and is a comfortable boat to paddle from either a seated, or a traditional kneeling position.

An overall great dependable workhorse, with predictable handling and durable construction, the Turing 16 is a fantastic family canoe for those looking to get out onto calm waters.
