Designed by David Yost using the traditional Chestnut Prospector gives the Swift Canoes Prospector 16 an edge slightly more towards a touring canoe rather than generic Prospector. This has been achieved by lowering the amount of bow & stern rocker to 2" which allows for a more efficient hull with easier straight line tracking (in the right padders hands of course). A lower chine to the rounded hull ensures waves and chop coming side on to the Prospector 16 dive under the hull to effect it less. The top side of the freeboard of the canoe has a mild tumble-home which has been specifically used to ensure the paddler doesn't feel like they are reaching over a high side of a canoe in order to get the paddle to the water. This more tucked in upper to the freeboard enables the paddler to keep a more powerful paddle stroke that gives more overall control.  

This ultra lightweight open canoe weighing only 16.7kgs is perfect for single person lifting, loading and portaging. Internally set up in the Combi set up meaning it has bow and stern seats as well as a removable centre seat. This gives the Prospector 16 the ability to have 3 people in it with the centre seat fitted, be paddled solo from the centre seat to give the canoe the perfect trim or to remove the centre seat allowing this canoe to be loaded up with all the gear you might need for a multi-day expedition. 

All the internal parts of the canoes outfitting are hand made from Carbon Fibre as part of the Carbon Tech Package. This means all the seats, handles, thwart and removable yoke not only look stunning but are the lightest weight possible making them perfectly in-keeping with this canoe. The included removable carbon Yoke is sculptured and padded to perfectly suit carrying / portaging the Swift Canoes Prospector longer or shorter distances. This Carbon carrying Yoke can be left in place while paddling when the centre seat is not in use or quickly unscrewed using the wing nuts supplied if the centre seat is in use.

Built in buoyancy tanks either end add to the overall buoyancy of the canoe giving piece of mind that rescues and recoveries are possible should the worst case scenario occur. 

The Carbon Fusion Laminate from Swift Canoes is their lightest weight option and is constructed using an Epoxy Resin system to give durability as well as longevity. Using a thin exterior coat of UV Shield gives a beautifully glossy finish, while layers and select partials of Carbon-Innegra cloth sandwiches the durable foam core along with a foam cored ribbing system. This is fused together a high-impact resin, injected with high pressure infusion, which in turn produces an optimal dispersion laminate consistency. This laminate is the sole laminate able to offer the Carbon Textreme finish.
