Designed to be a boat you could load up with a months worth of provisions and head on out into the wilderness, the Nova Craft Prospector 17 has plenty of pedigree, from the proverbial home of canoeing in Canada. The Prospector 17 is a tried and tested design suitable for everything from; big water expeditions, through to touring on the local canal with the family. From a design steeped in history the Prospector shape has been widely regarded as the best all-round general purpose shape for a canoe.

Best suited for paddling on long trips through a range of paddling types, the Prospector 17 is a workhorse which can handle touring across a range of environments. However if you are looking to stay closer to home and paddle with family and friends this canoe will still be ample for that too. A huge carrying capacity allows for comfortable paddling on overnight trips, while good volume and high sides will keep you and your gear dry, be that crashing through waves or running rapids. With amble rocker along it's long waterline the Prospector has a surprisingly quick turn and the tumblehome sides give reassuring confidence that can be built upon as you gain experience and technique. The canoe also has good flat water speed, with good straight line performance, thanks in part to the extremely shallow arch on the hull.

A canoe without compromise, the Prospector 17 is a tandem boat, coming with two bootlace seats as standard, however with such a long waterline and volume a third seat could be retrospectively fitted for an extra passenger. Two integrated buoyancy chambers offer a solution to prevent the canoe from sinking, even in the event of a capsize, a sculpted carry yoke, a thwart gives additional attachment locations for extra gear and carry handles make transporting this lightweight canoe as easy as possible.

Available in a range of materials from the lightweight TuffStuff, high performance TuffStuff Expedition to the highly durable SP3, the Prospector 17 has a wide range of applicability. TuffStuff is a fabric laced with basalt and Innegra fibers in-layed with high impact resistant nature, the TuffStuff Expedition features extra layers adding weight and improved toughness. Both materials will handle some use in rougher conditions.
