The Riot Brittany 16.5 is a good sea kayak for those looking for a rotomoulded model with a host of features that can cover some distance and at an affordable price.

Supplied with both a rudder and skeg as standard the Brittany is well set up for British coastal waters being at home on flat water, gentle seas with groundswells and in fairly choppy waters too. Comfortable cockpit outfitting with adjustable thigh brace pads should give you a great combination of connectivity and comfort.

The moderate rocker along the hull line with a good upsweep at the bow provides good straight-line tracking and the ability to push up and over oncoming waves. The predictable and efficient hull profile should instill plenty of confidence when edging and rolling and when the wind gets up you have the option of adding a bit of skeg to counter any weathercocking or you can deploy the Pilot Rudder System to cope with more variable winds or complex seas. The foredeck has a moulded recess perfect for fitting a deck compass.

Generous bow and stern hatches are complimented by a day hatch just behind the cockpit. There are three bulkheads separating the storage areas so you have the convenience of a day hatch, for stowing items such as a cagoule, or on-the water lunch, right where you can reach them.  This enables you to store camping gear separately in the bow and stern compartments. There are also plenty of on-deck bungees if you do want to add a paddlefloat, deck bag or spare paddles. We recommend the C-Tug trolley for transporting this kayak to and from the water.

The Riot Brittany is suited for experienced paddlers and those taking their first steps towards paddling longer kayaks.
